VND 200 million to build Huổi Đá Primary School, Điện Biên
A satellite school in the border district of Mường Nhé, built with money from residents' Christmas fundraising and the budget of the Từ Bi Tâm Fund.
In January 2019, the Từ Bi Tâm Fund (predecessor of the Green Life Charity Fund (Sống Xanh)) provided VND 200 million to build Huổi Đá Primary School in Nậm Kè commune, Mường Nhé district — a border commune of Điện Biên province, where the satellite school has more than 30 pupils.
From a Christmas fair
In December 2018, Eco Christmas fairs were held at Ecohome 1, Ecohome 2 and EcoLife Capitol to raise funds for this satellite school, collecting VND 119,562,000. The Fund topped this up from its own budget to reach VND 200 million. The project was carried out by the Fund together with the Niềm Tin volunteer group; construction began in January and was completed in April 2019.
During the same trip, the Fund donated medical equipment to the Nậm Kè commune health station and Tết gifts to families in difficult circumstances.
“The school facilities for the children in our village were very poor and lacking in many ways. When we heard that a donor would build a primary school for the village, we were overjoyed that the pupils would have spacious facilities to learn in.”
— Mr A Páo, head of Huổi Đá village
The Christmas fair that raised money to build the school later became the Sống Xanh Charity Fair, held every year at Capital House’s apartment complexes.
