Scholarships for 39 students overcoming poverty in Bình Định

The Green Life Charity Fund (Sống Xanh), together with the Bình Định Association for Promoting Education, presented scholarships to students from poor families who are overcoming hardship and achieving good results at three upper-secondary schools (high schools) — Tây Sơn, Quang Trung and Võ Lai — in Tây Sơn district.

The Fund has run its scholarship programme in Phù Mỹ and Tây Sơn districts since 2016, with total funding of nearly VND 1 billion.

50 students, three years of support

After reviewing the family circumstances and academic records of students nominated by the schools, the Fund and the provincial Association selected 50 students in especially difficult circumstances. Each scholarship is worth VND 2 million per year and continues throughout the three years of upper-secondary school, provided the student maintains good results with an average score of 7.0 or higher across all subjects.

Scholarships are awarded in two rounds each year: the first based on first-semester results, the second based on results for the whole school year.

First round, 2022–2023 school year

In this round, 39 students who met the Fund’s criteria received scholarships:

• 11 scholarships for students of Tây Sơn Upper-Secondary School
• 11 scholarships for students of Quang Trung Upper-Secondary School
• 17 scholarships for students of Võ Lai Upper-Secondary School

Attending were Mr Trần Công Tưởng, CEO of Thủ Đô Investment and Trading JSC (Capital House Group); representatives of An Bình Housing Investment JSC and Ecolife Property Management JSC; Mr Trần Văn Thọ, Vice Chairman of the Bình Định Association for Promoting Education; and the schools’ leadership and teachers.

The second round of scholarships for the school year was presented to 47 students in September 2023.
